Rossi "Wins" Governor for WA State

WASHINGTON, Nov. 17 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Republican Governors Association (RGA) Chairman Bob Taft (OH) tonight congratulated Dino Rossi on his gubernatorial election victory in Washington State. With all of the votes finally counted, Rossi leads Democrat Christine Gregoire by 261 votes.

"This took a few weeks longer than we expected, but it was certainly worth the wait. Dino Rossi made history tonight by becoming Washington's first Republican to be elected governor in 24 years. He did it by showing the voters of Washington that he can bring positive change to the state and create an atmosphere that fosters job growth and economic development," Chairman Taft said. "The RGA was proud to support Dino Rossi and we look forward to working with him."

RGA Executive Director Edward Tobin said, "I congratulate Dino Rossi. As a former Seattle resident, I can say Dino Rossi is just the type of problem-solving leader Olympia sorely needs right now."

The RGA spent about $1.8 million in support of Dino Rossi. The RGA effort included television and radio ads, mail, and providing support to the state Republican Party.
