Lamb Cake

Today we spent the afternoon at my Grandma's house - going through more of her things... we specifically focused on cleaning the garage - OH MY. Anyway, after going through boxes and cuppords and TONS of STUFF... my sister pulls out a cake mold. You can see the cake that the mold is to in this picture. Grandma made lamb cakes for all of her grandchildren for our first or second birthday. It's something that we've all treasured - just knowing that Grandma did something so special for us all.

When Gentry handed me the cake mold... I just about lost it. I think out of everything I've gotten from cleaning out her house, that's the thing that means the most. I don't OWN the cake mold, I'm just the "keeper" of it. I think that this summer/spring I'm going to try to make a lamb cake, just to see how it comes out. Who knows? Maybe little Eli (my cousin's son) will get a lamb cake for his second birthday.

What a great treasure to be the keeper of! I was the only grandchild who got to the hospital in time to say good-bye to my grandmother. I will always treasure that gift. Can't wait to see some pictures as you continue the tradition!
